MANCHESTER | CASSANDRA WILKINSON-LEONARD

This modern kitchen forms part of a bright, open-plan extension, with rooflights used to bring natural light deep into the space. A strong, dark colour palette is balanced with lighter surfaces and clean architectural lines, giving the kitchen a confident but controlled presence within the wider room.

The layout is anchored by a large island that provides both workspace and seating, creating a clear focal point while maintaining an open connection to the surrounding living and dining areas.

the design

The client approached us with a clear set of functional requirements, having previously been presented with a design elsewhere that failed to meet their needs. We reworked the layout entirely, creating a more resolved solution that accommodates a generous island, dedicated pantry storage and improved flow throughout the space. Dark, handleless cabinetry is paired with light work surfaces to sharpen contrast, while integrated NEFF appliances are positioned for ease of use. A vented induction hob is set flush into the island to maintain clean sightlines, supported by smart internal storage solutions and an integrated wine cooler, ensuring the kitchen performs as well as it looks.

“The brief was very specific, so the focus was on refining the layout and making sure every requirement was met without compromising the overall design. Improving storage, appliance placement and usability made a significant difference to how the space now works.”
